Police Rescue Civilians From Damaged Building After Powerful Colombia Earthquake

Pereira, Colombia – Colombian National Police officers are seen carrying out rescue operations after the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck western Colombia on August 10, 2026. The video shows officers helping civilians evacuate a multi-story building that suffered serious structural damage. Large cracks, collapsed sections of balconies and floors, and debris are visible around the building. Officers use ladders placed on the back of a truck to reach the upper floors. They help civilians, including a shirtless man and a woman, climb down safely from the damaged levels. The footage is part of ongoing search-and-rescue and evacuation operations in affected areas including Pereira and Cali. Officers are also seen navigating unstable structures, clearing paths through debris and assisting people to safety. The earthquake’s epicenter was in San José del Palmar, in Colombia’s Chocó department. As of August 14, official figures reported more than 280 deaths, nearly 4,000 injured and hundreds still missing.
