Political Corruption in the Philippines

Less than 3 days, the nation of the Philippines is going to elect a brand-new leader. Unlike current leader, four candidates are positioning themselves as being "approachable, friendly, and understandable" to the people. As we discuss all the political changes, one issue is being ignored - political corruption. What should we pay attention to this matter? Why is corruption getting more prevalent in the Philippines? Dr. Daniel Davis joined the show. Daniel Bruno Davis recently completed his PhD in Politics at the University of Virginia. His dissertation research explores how dynasties sabotage accountability for corruption in the Philippines. His research looks at the origins of dynasties, how they prevent prosecutions for corruption, and how they keep getting elected. Dr. Davis received an MA from the University of Denver and a BS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before graduate school Dr. Davis taught English as a foreign language in China for five years.
