Polokwane mayor denies municipal water link to Seshego diarrhoea cases.

from Update@Noon · host SAfm

Mayor John Mphe has denied any connection between the municipal water supply and the recent outbreak of diarrhoea cases in Seshego. The mayor visited the Seshego water treatment plant today amid reports of scores of residents falling ill with symptoms including severe diarrhoea, after drinking tap water. Mayor Mphe told the media that tests conducted at municipal laboratories show no contamination, and he described the claims as unsubstantiated allegations. He stressed that the municipality is working closely with the Department of Health, which has also found no evidence linking the illnesses to the water supply. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter Rendani Raliphaswa.
