Popcorn: In the Fullness of Time

from Kingdom Rock Radio · host Pastor John Butler

The first prophecy about the coming of Jesus was in Genesis 3 when God tells the serpent that Eve’s Offspring will bruise the head of the serpent’s offspring. That was thousands of years before the birth of Christ. There were many more prophecies over hundreds of years, and for the previous 400 years before Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the Jewish people had heard absolutely nothing from heaven. They waited on the Messiah for what seemed like forever, and Galatians 4:4 says that, when the fullness of time came, God sent His Son. This is like waiting for a bag of microwavable popcorn to pop. It only takes two minutes, but for most of that time, it seems like nothing is happening. For a while, the bag is just as flat as it began, but after a while, though, the first “pop” happens. The things happening inside the bag reach a point where the kernels are ready to pop, and once the first one pops, the rest follow. It’s similar with what God is doing in our church and in our lives. Be faithful and patient. Trust the process and know that He’ll bring it to fruition when the time is right!
