PREMIERE: Box 5ive - Duty Free [Initiate Records]

In time for the holiday season is a gift from the Belgium based imprint, Initiate Records and their ‘Winter Nights’ compilation. The release clocks in at an impressive 28 tracks centered around a common idea as the label states, ‘we asked the artists to follow the theme of “long winter nights” and to translate that emotion into music. What results is a varied compilation going from lightness to darkness.’ Our premiere for today was born from the mind of Box 5ive. With prior releases on Well Street, Comic Sans, and Twin Systems, the London artist is steadily growing a solid repertoire. Starting off with disembodied voices and warm bass lines, Duty Free evokes whispery scenes of wind swept roads, those moments of travel late at night, where none are around. The ever present serenity, and introspection as sounds are muted by snow, the only companion, the thoughts within one's mind. Duty Free, and the rest of the Winter Nights compilation will be released on the 23rd, of December.
