PREMIERE: Ilya Gurin-Babayeu - Chrome Red [DERSCHEIN]

The Brvtalist is pleased to premiere a new track from Ilya Gurin-Babayeu. "Chrome Red" comes off new EP, QEYS, forthcoming on Warsaw's DERSCHEIN. The release channels 90s hip-hop sampling style through a textural, and groove-heavy techno lens. Vocal chops, layered breaks, and gritty loops collide with hypnotic drum patterns to create something raw, rhythmic, and forward-looking. QEYS pulls from the golden era of techno and hip-hop — dusty acapellas, chopped breaks, crate-dug textures, and reworks them into ultimate tools for any DJ set. The track is drenched in raw, spray-can-like textures and dynamic momentum, as if it could break free at any moment. Chrome Red is a graffiti piece painted straight into your ears. The name comes from a classic graffiti color combo that dominated the artist's neighbourhood in the late 2010s—chrome fill with a red outline, a timeless staple of the style. This track is a tribute to the grafti culture he grew up with, a scene that shaped him as a teenager and continues to leave its mark on his creative process. QEYS is out June 12th.
