PREMIERE : Molécule - AAhh

from Les Yeux Orange · host Les Yeux Orange

Set for release on 27th March, Molécule debuts to Lumière Noire with ‘A:R’, a five-track EP that explores texture, environment and analogue expression through deeply immersive electronic composition. Produced between Paris and Cancale, the release captures the French artist’s continued fascination with sound as both atmosphere and narrative, whilst balancing experimental intention with club functionality. Opening track ‘Phantom’ sets the tone immediately, combining electro, techno and retro analogue character into a slow-burning, emotive introduction. Pulsating rhythms anchor its evolving soundscape, while subtle harmonic tension creates a feeling of unease and anticipation. The result feels cinematic yet grounded in dancefloor purpose, offering DJs a flexible tool that can transform entirely depending on tempo and context. ‘Y/B’, the EP’s focus track, pushes further into abstraction. Gritty textures and modulating analogue synth sequences twist and bend across the stereo field, constantly shifting shape without losing forward motion. Rather than relying on conventional structure, the track prioritises environment, allowing tone and rhythm to guide its progression. Its hypnotic drive and leftfield sensibility position it firmly within late-night territory. Released ahead of the EP on 13th March, teaser single ‘AAhh’ introduces a more delicate entry point. Opening with eerie vocal harmonies and sparse melodic fragments, it gradually unfolds into a fully realised composition driven by tactile percussion and hardware-led instrumentation. The track’s emotional pull comes from its restraint, allowing each element to emerge naturally rather than forcing momentum. ‘Utah’ moves deeper into shadow, embracing a slower tempo and intricate detail. Tonal percussion elements double as both rhythmic and melodic anchors, while layered textures reveal new subtleties with each listen. Its patience and precision reward attentive listening, offering depth rather than immediate impact. The title track ‘A:R’ closes the EP with clarity and intent. Drawing together the sonic threads established across the release, it delivers Molécule’s most direct dancefloor statement here. Groove, harmony and analogue manipulation converge into a tightly controlled yet fluid composition that reflects his instinctive approach to hardware and live sound design. Molécule has built his reputation on immersive creative processes, often composing in direct response to physical environments and recorded sound sources. His work has taken him from the Arctic Circle to the open ocean, capturing natural sonic material and transforming it into electronic form. With ‘A:R’, he continues that trajectory, focusing on tactile production and emotional resonance rather than genre constraint.
