A four-time Olympian and former vice-captain of the New Zealand Black Sticks, Hugo Inglis OLY was one of the most capped players in New Zealand hockey history. But the more he traveled the world competing, the harder it became to ignore the contradiction between his career and his environmental convictions. After retiring, he co-founded High Impact Athletes, a global movement that channels elite athlete funding toward evidence-based climate solutions. With over 240 athletes from 50 disciplines across 35 countries, HIA has directed more than $2 million to organizations tackling climate change. In 2025, he won the IOC Climate Action Award.
