Queens and Their Mental Health Part 2

from The Brain Love Podcast · host Dr. Delvena

Hey guys! We are back on the couch discussing more about the ladies, in particular ladies of color, and their mental health. This is part 2 of a two part series. Last week hopefully you enjoyed listening to part 1 as I laid the groundwork with Black history, Black women's history and how we arrived in this 'space'. This more on our fireside chat with questions and answers including some of the following: Dr. Delvena, can you please give us an overview of your practice, the type of patients that you see, and your opinion on why mental health is such an imperative at this time. What are the most serious type of mental health issues that we as women of color are dealing with - is it the super woman syndrome, the imposter syndrome, etc. Women are the heads of household in roughly 30 percent of Black and African American homes, compared to 9 percent of white homes. Does this contribute to the mental health crisis in your opinion? Are there coping exercises or particular behaviors that we can incorporate into our routines that might help to alleviate some of our stressors? Or is it more than that? What are some links to tools and resources that we can share in the chat? ARE YOU READY TO TAKE THE COUCH?
