He lives in Northwestern Mexico and belongs to the Seri culture. At the time of this interview, he is located in Guadalajara, where his band is set to perform live at an indigenous music festival. “What kind of language is your mother tongue?” Francisco Molina answers that question saying that Seri is a very old indigenous language spoken in Northwestern Mexico. Unlike other languages, Seri does not belong to a language family. It exists only in the communities where it is spoken. According to linguists, it is a language isolate and quite unique in the world. “What is a Seri ‘farewell’ in quotes chant that you think the world needs to hear?” Francisco says that the following chant represents the beginning and the end of something. He and his band perform it a capella at the beginning and at the end of each show. ••• Text and summary written with Messyna, an international student of English and Spanish. ••• Interview conducted by Marco Rixecker https://www.amazon.com/author/marcorixecker ••• Radio Aula Mundi, May 2025 https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0J-iNFOJ5e7pEH8ldsVqlM272Ly4wwBQ ••• At the moment, Radio Aula Mundi is an evolving podcast station where no language and all languages are spoken… It’s a multilingual mix of music, poetry, lectures, languages, interviews, documentaries, recipes, and a lot more, co-produced with the students of the ‘Aula Mundi International Cultural Center’…••• Radio Aula MundiCentro Cultural & Turistico Aula MundiAula Mundi Cultural Travel Centerhttps://linktr.ee/radioaulamundi •••
