Francisco Molina is the lead vocalist of ‘Hamac Caziim’, an indigenous rock band from the Comcáac (Seri) community on the Gulf of California, in Northwestern Mexico. At the time of this interview, he is located in Guadalajara, where his band is set to perform live at an indigenous music festival. “What kind of language is your mother tongue?” Francisco Molina answers that question saying that Seri is a very old indigenous language spoken in Northwestern Mexico. Unlike other languages, Seri does not belong to a language family. It exists only in the communities where it is spoken.
