RadicalxChange 2.0 | E. Glen Weyl

from RadicalxChange Replayed · host E. Glen Weyl

Radical Markets was only a first step in radically improving social technology. But it propagated the central mistakes of assuming an atomized individual identity. By formalizing human identity's fundamentally social nature, truer to the richness of our diversely shared lives, Glen Weyl sketches how we can build better institutions to create systems for facilitating cooperation across difference. SPEAKER E. Glen Weyl is a political economist and social technologist whose work focuses on harnessing computers and markets to create a radically equal and cooperative society. He is the Founder and Chairman of the RadicalxChange Foundation, a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research, and a lecturer at Princeton University. Glen was recently honored as a Bloomberg Top 50, one of Wired Magazine’s 25 leaders shaping the next 25 years of technology, and one of Coindesk’s most influential people in blockchain for 2018.

Stoic Mindset in 365 Days ABSX Network You end most days tired, not from what you did but from what you replayed, dreaded and argued about in your head. Almost none of it was yours to carry. Stoic Mindset in 365 Days is a one year training plan for the way you think. Every episode is one numbered lesson that takes a single Stoic principle, puts it inside your real life and ends with a mantra you say out loud and write in the comments as your commitment. Each week the plan moves to a new phase, from control to fear to character, in the tradition of Marcus Aurelius, Seneca and Epictetus. A new lesson drops every day at 7:00 PM, right when the day is over and you can hear it with a clear head. Follow the plan and it shows in what you do. You let go of what already happened instead of rehearsing it. You start the task you have been avoiding. You stop waiting for approval before you move. Follow Stoic Mindset in 365 Days and play Day 1 tonight. Tomorrow at 7:00 PM the next lesson arrives whether Wow - What's on Westside Michael Smith What's On Westside is a weekly catch-up of events across Melbourne's Glorious West, with the Sun Theatre's Michael Smith, Christina Browning from Western Melbourne Tourism, and regular guests, dropping every Thursday for the weekend ahead.
