Reading and meditation on the Word of God on Saturday of the second week of Lent, March 7th, 2026

Micah 7: 14-15.18-20; Rs psalm 103: 1-2.3-4.9-10.11-12; Luke 15: 1-3.11-32.GOD'S MERCY ISNOT INJUSTICE Our meditation today is entitled: God's Mercy Is NotInjustice. Admiration and even our inability to understand the almighty God is whenwe think and ponder on His mercy. The most powerful expression of God's mercyfor us is His power to forgive human sins. The term "God is almighty"signifies the power of God to rule over everything and everyone, including theforgiveness of sins. For believers, this admiration and recognition of beinginsufficient in the presence of God is part of faith. As for the unbelievers,the omnipotence of God and especially the power to forgiveness of sins ismeaningless. The prophet Micah, in the first reading, expressed hisfaith with great wonder that no other God could forgive the sins of His people.He has the power to remove human sins. He threw all those sins into the depthsof the sea, into the deepest part of the universe. Micah has a story about the deliveranceof ancient Israelites from Egyptian slavery and deliverance during the periodof wandering in the wilderness. In line with this, Jesus makes it more concretethrough the parable of the prodigal son and his merciful father.  The positive law and principle of justice put the answerto an act of sin with the punishment due to the sinful act made. Unbelieversand people in general view that the Israelites who have sinned so much over andover again deserve to be punished repeatedly. The prodigal son must had receivedthe punishment correlated to the sin he had committed. The Pharisees andscribes considered sinners to be very dirty, so they were not to interact with them.This is all contradictory to God's merciful deeds. God is a merciful God. TheLord comes along and stay with them. He forgives them. This is what we meanhere as an injustice act of God. However, this act of mercy is not an unjust act. Anact of mercy and love essentially brings the sinner close to us and helps himto repent, through forgiveness and guidance to return to the right path. God'sreal will for them is that none of the believers should be lost from His care.It could be one of us, your friends or family members. Then, during this time,you can work with God to restore him from his current state of depravity bothphysically and spiritually.Letus pray. In the name of the Father... God Almighty, make us aware and eager to returnto You as the best way we can do, and living with You must the main purpose ofour lives. Our Father who art in heaven... In the name of the Father ...
