Delivered by Angeline from the Parish of Saint Catherine in the Archdiocese of Seattle, USA. Isaiah 7: 10-14; Rs psalm 24: 1-2.3-4ab.5-6; Luke 1: 26-38.THEMOMENT OF INCARNATION Ourmeditation today is entitled: The Moment of Incarnation. We have beenreflecting on the great theme of this Advent which is preparation. Over thepast few days our meditations have featured some special figures that can becalled the close circle category, namely those who had played a major role inhelping out our preparation. Today'sliturgical readings lead us right to the core of preparation, which presentsthe main characters who directly had become instruments for the birth of theSavior, Jesus Christ. They were no longer a close-circle persons, but as themain actors in the fulfilment of the Father's most powerful plan in the historyof salvation, namely the incarnation. This word “incarnation” signifies theeternal Word of God made flesh. The Son of God as the second person of theTrinity, came into the world whom we know as the Lord Jesus Christ. Theevent of the incarnation entered the world through a main gate, which was aheavenly greeting with the great and miraculous message to the Virgin Mary. Thegreatness and wonder of God regarding the coming of the Messiah which had beenprepared long in advance by the prophets, as we follow through the proclamationof today's readings, began to open to be known by the world. This annunciationevent presented the following main characters, namely the archangel Gabriel whobrought the joyful glad tidings from God, the Virgin Mary of Nazareth in theGalilee region, and her future husband, Joseph. They were the main actors whohad played a direct role in the birth of Jesus Christ into the world. Weare on our way to the pinnacle of incarnation. Today we are at the entrance, which is to experience the joyful greeting addressed to Mary, the greetingwhich was becoming a great miracle the word made flesh, and Mary's answer whichwas an expression of such great faith. Everything that happened at the gate ofthis incarnation indeed confirmed what the prophet Isaiah had previously saidwhen he delivered this joyful news to the family of David, that a woman wouldgive birth to Emmanuel. So, this great and magnificent greeting to be the gateof incarnation had been designed and prepared so long time ago. Weshould not be the outsiders the circle to just watching and admiring. We bettergo in and pass through the gate that we may experience that great andmiraculous greeting. Moreover, such greeting that says “The Lord be with you”also comes into each of us and our families. It is amazing how the incarnationtakes place, where the eternal Word enters and dwells in us. Our realpreparation is to be at the gate of the incarnation, but we should not be farfrom there or just watching from distance. Let's pray. In thename of the Father... O great and merciful God, may we rejoice even more whenwe are in this imminent preparation to celebrate the feast of the coming ofJesus Christ, our Lord. Glory to the Father and to the Son and the HolySpirit... In the name of the Father...
