Reading and meditation on the Word of God on Wednesday of the second week of Easter, May 30, 2025

Acts of the Apostles 5: 17-26; Rs psalm 34: 2-3.4-5.6-7.8-9; John 3: 16-21.FROMDARKNESS TO LIGHT Thetitle for our meditation today is: From Darkness to Light. Easter is our verywonderful faith experience for we have the light of Jesus Christ. Theresurrection is the sign of the powerful God who destroys death, as well as thesign of light that overcomes darkness. Therefore, we are convinced to say thatthe main symbol of Easter for us is the light. Easter basically stands for aconstant change in our lives in the world, namely from darkness to light. Wedo not yet experience the reality of eternal life, but the spirit of Easter,which is the transition from darkness to light is made eternal for us. BeforeHis death, Jesus had spoken openly about this final realization of our lives toNicodemus. He introduced himself as the light that has come into the world.Because He forever is the light, the world in its darkness gets that light.There are some people who accept the light, but many others are not willing toaccept and acknowledge that light. Nicodemus represents so many people who areattracted to the light, so they have the desire to find out and experience thepresence of the Lord in their lives. Theexperience of many believers proves that they do not have enough courage tofind out and have little desire to have that light. Desires and wills are goodbut they are not enough. What is really needed in the realization the encounterthe Lord is when people choose to leave the darkness and then accept,acknowledge and believe in the light which is none other than Jesus Christhimself. All of us as believers and followers of Jesus Christ have been madefree and passed through this change so that we can have our dignity as thechildren of light. There is a lot of experiences in this world that explainshow the children of light always live in the spirit of Easter, a change fromdarkness to light. Thestory in Acts of the Apostoles about the apostles were liberated from theprison shells and went to preach the gospel in the temple, is an example for usabout being protected under the refuge and power of Easter, when danger ortrouble come along the way. This spirit of Easter is obligatory for everyonewho also experience the resurrection of Christ and continue to live in thisspirit. The point is that when we fall or we are in darkness of life, hardship,and threatened by the dangers of the world, we must be able to see the lightand finally rise up to walk again in the spirit of Easter. OurPaschal motto "from darkness to light" should inspire our whole journeyof life. If this spirit is alive in you, keep it up. But if it is fading and isnot aware of, take it back with help of the risen Jesus,  our Lord.Let's pray. In thename of the Father ...
