Genesis 14: 18-20; Rs psalm 110: 1.2.3.4; 1 Corinthians 11: 23-26; Luke 9: 11b-17.COMMANDMENT TOREMEMBER Our meditationon this Sunday, the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ is entitled: TheCommandment to Remember. When someone asks you to remember to his message oradvice, he means it something so important and meaningful. He wants the valueor wisdom of his message or advice to be remembered and put into practice. Theone who receives advice and messages has a moral and spiritual responsibilityto carry out those messages or advice. That will certainly bring happiness. There is astudent who has just graduated from a well-known university with a veryimpressive achievement. He said that in addition to his hard work in hisstudies, his loyalty and obedience to his parents' messages and advice havebeen a determining factor for his success in his studies. He always rememberedthe words of his father and mother, especially about focusing on the duty ofstudying and not wasting time. He heeded his parents' advice to always pray andwork hard in his studies. The commandto remember Him as the Lord and Savior is the command of the Lord Jesus to Hisdisciples, apostles and people of God, at the time of the Last Supper. The LordJesus instituted the Eucharist, which is symbolized by the bread and wine tosignify the sacrifice of His body and blood for the salvation of those Heredeemed. This act of self-offering is an expression of the greatest love, sothe symbols of bread and wine are the very special signs. The body and blood ofChrist being symbolized are the presence of the Lord Jesus Himself who speaksto His people and makes Himself a spiritual meal for all the faithful who takepart in the celebration of the Eucharist. This act ofself-sacrifice of Jesus Christ is a perfect act of God in the plan of salvationof mankind and the world. So, Jesus Himself wants us to always remember Him andto feel His loving presence. Our remembrance of Him is performed in the Churchas one of the seven sacraments namely the Sacrament of the Eucharist. For everymember of the Church, faith in the Sacraments is an obligation that cannot beviolated or wasted. The commandment to remember the Lord Jesus in the celebrationof the Eucharist that is deliberately violated or abused will be a serious sin. Theremembrance of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist is generallycarried out in the Church through forms of expressions of faith celebrated byboth the clergy and the laity in general. The greatest and main celebrationsare the Holy Mass daily, on Sundays, Feasts and Solemnities. There is also acelebration of the reception of Holy Communion which is carried out in theworship of the word without an ordained priest and Holy Communion served to thesick, the elderly and those in danger of death. The host of the holy Eucharistis also celebrated through the devotion of the adoration of the BlessedSacrament. All of these are activities in remembrance of the Lord Jesus Christwho has given us the perfect example of sacrifice of himself. Letus pray... In the name of the Father ... O Lord Jesus Christ, fill us with Yourpower so that we may be like the bread of the Eucharist that is willing to bebroken to offer ourselves sincerely to our neighbors. Our Father who art inheaven... In the name of the Father ...
