Rebecca Hardy - Texans for Vaccine Choice: The Fight for Informed Consent and Vaccine Exemptions

Rebecca Hardy, President of Texans for Vaccine Choice and a speech-language pathologist, speaks with Peter about her background and the reasons she co-founded the organisation in 2015.  She describes noticing patterns in child development during her clinical work and how her own research into vaccines, combined with a desire to support parental decision-making, led to the group’s formation alongside other Texas mothers.  The conversation covers the organisation’s emphasis on informed consent and parental rights, practical challenges with school vaccine policies and exemption processes in Texas, and recent legislative changes including simplified religious exemptions that can now be printed at home.  Rebecca also discusses other measures such as requirements for taxpayer-funded doctors to accept patients regardless of vaccination status, rules around vaccine advertising, and access to over-the-counter ivermectin.  She outlines the group’s approach to working with legislators, monitoring school practices, and encouraging community involvement through their website and local activities.
