Recovery Now with Kim Justus-What TBI's Want You to Know

from A Recovery Now · host Kim Justus

Tonight we will be discussing "What Brain Injury Survivors Want You To Know,"  excerpted from Lost and Found: A Survivor's Guide For Reconstructing Life After a Brain Injury,  By Barbara J. Webster.  More information on her book can be found at: http://www.lapublishing.com/survivor-cognitive-strategies/ For many of us survivors, it's hard to communicate with our loved ones and others, just how the function of our brains has changed. Our inability to express these elements of the "new me" are a frustrating, as well as isolating, experience. Hopefully this reading will aid our listeners by providing tips that make it easier to let people know, what we're dealing with. By providing a better understanding to those around us, we hope to improve the quality of our relationships. When we come out "looking normal," people expect us to act that way. Most times the old normal is long gone, and we're just processing the new normal ourselves. This reading will help communicate those details to others. Host is Kim Justus, author of In a Flash: Miracles Here andBeyond, found at www.inaflash.org
