Rectifying the Zaken Mamre

In Parshat Shoftim, the Torah warns about the Zaken Mamre, the sage who rejects the High Sanhedrin in the Holy Temple. This happens when Torah is learned without joy, leaving a person vulnerable to confusion and error. The Torah commands that his execution be during the festivals, when the nation’s collective simcha uplifts and rectifies.
