Redefining The "Strong Black Woman" Dynamics

from The Inspirational Corner · host Stylicia Bowden

What does it mean to be a strong black woman and how has this label crippled black women? If you glance in Webster’s dictionary, the term strong is defined as the capacity for exertion or endurance. When you state that someone is strong, it is often received as a proud statement or a compliment; however, over the last couple of years, African American women are choosing to redefine their strength. In this episode, I am discussing how this label affected my life, how it has allowed black women to embrace the superwoman syndrome, and five ways we can redefine this label and take back the narrative from society.
