Equality among believers regardless of race, ethnicity, wealth, or social status. - Some leaders proposed a compromise on worship, but the Quranic response (Surah Al-Kafirun) rejected it. - Early converts included oppressed individuals. - Prophet refused to abandon believers despite pressure from Qurayshi elders. - Local relevance: National Orange Shirt Day and Day of Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th, highlighting Indigenous injustices. - Acknowledgment of towns built on Indigenous land. - Mention of Indian residential schools, cultural assimilation, and tragic child deaths. - A comparison made with the Shi'a tradition of mourning Karbala and a call for sensitivity to tragedies. - Emphasis on respecting fellow Muslims based on faith and character, not race or social status.
