In 1966 I graduated from Clarion State University with a degree in English teaching. I taught 14-year-olds grammar, Shakespeare, advanced writing. Many of them went on to become very successful. A couple of went on to be Mega Millionaires! But after a couple of years I left teaching because I discovered that although my students excelled in the New York Regents Test, the teachers who had been there longer than I got paid a lot more. Even though their students didn’t score nearly so well! After I left teaching Jimmy Carter created the Department of Education AND gave away the Panama Canal. I’m not sure which one sabotaged America the worse. I’m so very happy that President Trump is going to take back our canal of Panama and dissolve the destructive Department of Education.
