Rejoice! Our homecoming has begun.

from Sunday Homilies with the Redemptorists · host Novena Church

In today's Gospel, the prodigal son begins his heartfelt confession, but before he can finish, the father runs towards him, embraces him, and restores his dignity. The father refuses to let his son see himself as anything less than his beloved child. Fr. Antony Prabhu reminds us that this power moment is a reflection of God's mercy toward each of us. Like a tender mother fixing a child's broken toy, God meets us in our brokenness - not to shame us, but to help us heal and begin again. We are defined not by our sins or failures, but by being sons and daughters of God. That is why the Church calls this Laetare Sunday - Rejoice Sunday. Not because Lent is over, but because the light of Easter is already breaking through. If you feel tired or far from God, take heart. The Father is running toward you. The homecoming has already begun. - Sunday Homily by Fr. Antony Prabhu, C.Ss.R. (30 March 2025)
