Replace Your Guilt with Joy

We've all made mistakes we'd rather bury. You have. I have. Choices we wish we could take back. And yet, how often do we just keep walking down the same path – one compromise after another – rather than stopping, turning back, and asking God for mercy? That's exactly what happened with King David of Israel. He saw Bathsheba's beauty, he wanted her, he took her. Never mind that she was married. As you might imagine, the fallout was devastating. Her husband, Uriah, innocent in all this, was murdered. A woman's life was broken. A king's heart was hardened in his all-out rebellion against God. And for a season, David carried on as though nothing had happened – sound familiar? Until God sent Nathan the prophet to knock some sense into him. It was then, crushed by the weight of his sin, that David asked God to forgive him, and poured out these words: Psalm 51:12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me." David wasn't just looking for forgiveness – he longed for restoration. The joy of God's salvation. The strength of His Spirit. The willingness to walk in obedience again. And that's God's invitation to you today. You don't have to stay stuck in compromise. You don't have to keep pretending it's all fine. You can turn back, right now, and ask God to wash you clean, to fill you with His Spirit, and to restore joy where guilt and shame have been weighing you down. Don't wait. Don't carry it one day longer. Jesus died so that you could be forgiven. Ask God to restore your joy and give you a spirit willing to walk in His ways. That's God's Word. Fresh … for you … today.
