REPLAY: GHS Silver Streaks girls basketball vs Quincy

At John Thiel Gymnasium Thursday night, the Galesburg High School girls basketball team suffered a heart-breaking loss in a Western Big 6 Conference match-up with the Quincy Blue Devils. It was a back-and-forth game with Quincy taking at 10-point lead going into halftime. The Silver Streaks took back the lead going into the 4th quarter and kept that lead until Quincy's Myley Longcor drained a 3-point shot with 2.4 seconds left in the game. Quincy went on to win, 55 - 54. With that 1-point loss, Galesburg drops from their shared position at the top of the conference rankings, leaving Sterling the outright leader in the Western Big 6. Galesburg was led in scoring by Jozalyn Kilgore with 19 points, Grace Herchenroder with 8 points, Ella Herchenroder with 7, and Lily Furrow finished with 6 points. Quincy's Myley Longcor scored all of her points beyond the arc with 6 three-pointers, including the game winner. Overall, the Blue Devils scored 30 of their points from 3-point range. The Streaks shot 20 of 52 from the field, shooting the ball 18 more times than Quincy did. Galesburg was 6 of 19 from the three-point line and 8 for 17 from the free-throw line, with five of those misses happening in the closing minute of the game. An incredible effort in the game for the Silver Streaks by Jozalyn Kilgore, who was named the Dave's Auto Body Crunch Time Player of the Game. She finished the night with 19 points, with 8 of those points scored in the 4th quarter, and 7 rebounds. Jozalyn played with heart and grit and never gave up.
