Republicans Need to Turn Down Their Genocide Rhetoric
from Walter Rhein Podcast · host Walter Rhein
Your support keeps me going, I really appreciate you!Well, the Republicans are at it again, in fact they never stopped. According to them, everything that’s wrong with the world is the fault of the Democrats or Joe Biden. Meanwhile, Republicans think they can claim credit for everything good.Lost in the mix is that the number of good things is shrinking all the time.Republicans have been on a hate campaign for as long as I can remember. They’re a bunch of brutal saber rattlers who tried to overthrow the government. Now they’re throwing innocent people into vans, tying their hands with zip ties, and laughing about how they’re going to feed them to alligators. That’s not even an exaggeration. They built a literal concentration camp in Florida and they go on social media bragging about how people are going to be killed either by hurricanes or reptiles. But this morning, when I jumped on social media, I saw a report from the woman I unaffectionately refer to as “The Mouth of Sauron,” claim that Democrats need to tone down their rhetoric.Democrats?Apparently the Republicans have already completely forgotten that a Minnesota Democrat was recently assassinated by a deranged right wing shooter.Newsflash: the political left is not the ideology of violence. Not by a long way.We live in an era where violent men who couldn’t pass the psychological profile to become police officers are being handed guns, face masks, zip ties, and no badge. Then they’re told to “go forth and round up innocent people.”But somehow when things get out of hand it’s the Democrats fault?I mean, basically they’re complaining because Schumer wrote a “strongly worded letter.”“Turn down your rhetoric.”“Really? Why don’t you turn down your genocide?”You can rely on Republicans to always run the same play over and over again, and why not? The Democrats don’t have an answer. Maybe it’s time to start thinking of one. It’s infuriating the way the Democrats always surrender the narrative. The Republicans are chortling about building concentration camps in alligator infested swamps, but the media is pointing fingers at the language the Democrats use when they point out crimes against humanity? They aren’t even really denouncing these crimes, they’re just sort of pointing them out.“Er… cough, cough, they’ve defunded NOAA and they’re using that money to make death camps.”Mouth of Sauron, “That’s the kind of violent hate rhetoric that leads to people resisting getting grabbed off the street and zip tied in the back of a van. Our brave lawless, unidentified agents of the gestapo are worried that the next time they try to kidnap and traffic a child, the parents might object. How dare you!”Democrats: “We’re sorry.”How about this: how about if somebody proposes we pass laws to make hate speech illegal? Let’s crack down on that!I honestly think we should do that. If the Mouth of Sauron really thinks that Democrats are out there spewing hate rhetoric, then arrest them for it! I absolutely think that if a politician or anyone calls for violence, that person should be stopped.Threats against human life are not protected by free speech, neither is inciting language, neither is harassment. Let’s ENFORCE those laws.Naturally Republicans aren’t doing that because they know if they arrest a Democrat for saying, “Gee… that concentration camp in alligator infested waters sure does look like a concentration camp…”Then there will be HUNDREDS of Republican pundits and politicians who are arrested for literally calling for hatred, violence, destruction, and death. The Republicans say these kinds of things all the time. They’ll speak 100 consecutive threats, and if the Democrats respond by quoting them, the media jumps down the Democrats’ throats because their use of tough language is so out of character.“Hey now,” the media says, “don’t go quoting the Republicans, that’s hate speech.”Or maybe the Democrats shouldn’t wait for the Republicans to act (golly, what a concept). Maybe they should just start arresting Republican politicians for inciting violence and insurrection YESTERDAY?One of the main problems of today is that it’s normal for Republicans to engage in hate speech and they get all haughty when you call them out.“Our country isn’t racist,” they say.“It’s protected by free speech to give a nazi salute,” they say.“That wasn’t a nazi salute anyway,” they say.But the second anyone dares to respond, all the disingenuous Republican defenses of free speech go right out the window.“THAT’S HATE RHETORIC! YOU HAVE TO TONE IT DOWN!”Meanwhile, the Republican gestapo continues to round up the innocent, deprive them of their due process, deprive children of their birthright citizenship, and deprive everyone of their basic right to human dignity. The mouth of Sauron slithers up behind her podium and speaks with a forked tongue. You’re right, it’s time to tone down the hate rhetoric in the United States. But that starts by recognizing that Republicans are the source. You all make this newsletter happen!
