Research Review: Effect of Warm Up Swings on Bat Speed

from Clinically Pressed Podcast · host Clinically Pressed

It is still common to see weighted donuts and other implements in the on deck circle as well as players swinging multiple bats at the same time. But does all of this add up to swinging the bat faster? This study takes a look how swinging different weighted bats prior to a normal bat impacts the velocity of the swing. The results may seem logically counterintuitive but it makes sense if you really think about it. Check it out. Reference: Montoya, B. S., Brown, L. E., Coburn, J. W., & Zinder, S. M. (2009).
