Retirement and pensions, Gaza and the UN with human rights activist Magda Zenon

from The Mamma Mu podcast · host Eleni

Magda Zenon is a peace and human rights activist who has lived in apartheid South Africa. She has been an active member of civil society for over 20 years, helping to create organisations such as Hands Across the Divide, the Gender Advisory Team and the Cyprus Women's Lobby. She's also a member of the Women's Mediators of the Commonwealth network amongst other groups, and she is the creator of the first online audio platform, KaleidHERscope, where women share stories of peacebuidling, gender-based violence and women's participation in decision-making. Today on the podcast we chat about two very different topics: As a 66-year old single mum, she has recently retired so she talks about her experience with entering this new stage, the pension discrimination and the pro bono work we do as women. We also talk about the apartheid in South Africa where she lived, the occupation in Cyprus and the situation in Gaza, the ICC's decision to apply for arrest warrants, the mistrust in the UN, women caught in this conflict, the Eurovision and the misinformation that exists online.
