Retracción de Encías: Causas y Soluciones - Clínica Dental Herrera & Cores

Te ves los dientes más alargados, se te mete más comida entre diente y diente, ¿mal olor…? Estos son algunos signos que nos pueden indicar que nuestras encías no están sanas y, debemos de acudir al dentista para que nos revise. Las causas: Los problemas de encías son uno de los problemas más comunes en el consultorio dental, y son de gran importancia no solo, porque pueden causar problemas estéticos, sino también, pueden provocar graves problemas de salud. Entre las principales causas de retracción de encías destacan las enfermedades periodontales, como la periodontitis crónica y también, hábitos perjudiciales como un cepillado agresivo. Las enfermedades periodontales son la causa principal y esta, se puede diferenciar en dos estadios. Por un lado, cuando únicamente afecta a la encía, gingivitis. Debido a una acumulación de placa se va formando depósitos duros, que es lo que conocemos con el nombre de sarro. Con el paso del tiempo hace que afecte también al hueso produciéndose a la pérdida de este. La gingivitis la podemos detectar en casa porque su principal síntoma es el sangrado durante el cepillado, pero ojo, porque esto no siempre lo vemos por la técnica incorrecta de cepillado que utilizamos o por el tabaco por ejemplo que la camufla. Si esta gingivitis no se trata, avanzará a una periodontitis también conocida como piorrea. La placa bacteriana se va acumulando entre la encía y el diente formando bolsas periodontales y penetrando cada vez más hacia la raíz, destruyendo cada vez más hueso y, por tanto, es cuando nosotros podemos apreciarnos los dientes más largos, más amarillos porque hay exposición radicular (y esta es de color amarillo), más espacios entre diente y diente, mal olor, mal sabor, movilidad de dientes… Aclarar, que influyen más factores además de la placa bacteriana, para el desarrollo de la enfermedad, y el principal la genética, estrés, tabaco, malposiciones… Otro motivo por el que, podemos ver una retracción de nuestras encías, es la abrasión. Provocada por un mal cepillado. Cuando nos cepillamos de forma agresiva, o con un cepillo demasiado duro… Provoca la destrucción del tejido que forma la encía y con ello, una recesión gingival. Una mala ortodoncia también puede llevar a recesiones. Tabaco porque contribuye en gran medida a enfermedad periodontal. Traumatismos. Soluciones: Lo primero y sin duda lo más importante, es eliminar la causa que ha producido esta retracción. En caso de que el motivo sea por un cepillado agresivo primero se instruirá al paciente en técnicas de cepillado adecuadas, y una vez dominadas, se soluciona con injertos. Al igual que el instruir en estas correctas técnicas de cepillado mejorarán nuestras enfermedades de encías, pero he de decir, que, en estos casos, nunca se puede recuperar el hueso perdido, pero lo que hacemos con los tratamientos específicos para estas patologías y modificando hábitos, es estancarla o mantenerla a raya para que no avance con tanta rapidez, y poder así, conservar nuestros dientes toda la vida.
