Rex Heuermann's guilty plea in Suffolk County Court carries legal implications that extend well beyond sentencing. The 62-year-old architect pleaded guilty to seven counts of murder and admitted to intentionally causing the death of Karen Vergata — an eighth victim he was never formally charged with killing.
