När tv kom på 1950-talet blev Ria Wägner Sveriges första stora tv-kändis. Hon tillbringade ett halvt sekel i rutan, men är näst intill bortglömd idag. I hennes program för husmödrar blandades matlagning, musik, hantverk och husmorstips. Men trots Rias bildning och kulturhistoriska intresse framställdes hon gång på gång som en smårund mattant. Både kollegor och kritiker såg ner på henne och försökte skriva ut henne ur tv-historien - och lyckades.
