Un 11 de agosto pero de 1943 se estrenaba en Salzburgo el Concierto Nº2 para corno francés y orquesta de Richard Strauss. Strauss, destacado compositor y director de orquesta alemán, compuso esta obra mientras vivía en Viena en 1942. La primera grabación de la pieza se realizó en 1944, por el solista Gottfried von Freiberg y la partitura fue publicada por Boosey & Hawkes de Londres en 1950. La obra fue tomada y popularizada por el trompetista británico Dennis Brain. convirtiéndose en el concierto para corno francés más interpretado y grabado del siglo XX. A continuación escucharemos un fragmento del primer movimiento del este concierto interpretado por Samuel Seidenberg en el corno francés acompañado de la Orquesta Sinfónica de la Radio de Frankfurt dirigidos por Sebastian Weigle.
