Run Away Fast When You Hear 'Digital Marketers' Say This

from Engaging Marketeer · host Darren Jamieson

Something that really annoys me about my industry is when the so-called 'rock stars' of SEO spend all their time telling people they're really good at SEO, and what search terms they rank for. The search terms they're so proud of are invariably never searched for, which is why they've managed to rank for them, and the only people who ever search for them are 1) themselves, and 2) other people who are told they rank for it, straight after being told. When someone tells you how great they are at SEO, and spends their time telling you what they rank for, ask yourself 'who cares?'. The best people at SEO don't go around telling others what they rank for in Google, they're too busy dealing with the business they receive from the phrases they actually rank for in Google. This is my slightly irritated take on one such digital marketing 'expert' who does this.
