Ryan McNulty of NYC's Black Tie Brass Plugs Neon Jazz

Black Tie Brass was founded by Ryan McNulty in 2013. Ryan wanted to create a group of musicians that feed off each other’s energy to create rare musical performances night after night. The musicians from BTB met at C.W. Post during Ryan’s undergraduate studies. They all performed in different groups together in different styles and even on different instruments! The band came together to perform numerous private events to begin crafting the identity of Black Tie Brass. From Singers to Horns to Percussion Black Tie Brass has it all! The band draws from their deep knowledge of all styles of music and are influenced by everyone from Bach to Timberlake. The group has now crafted a sound all its own but draws heavily from jazz, funk, R&B, soul, and rock. The talent of each performer as an improviser creates an electric performance that cannot be duplicated. Their performances show what multiple musical minds can accomplish in the moment, spontaneously, and with great mastery. The band itself is able to change, going from a sextet to a quartet or trio all the way down to a duo while still maintaining the signature Black Tie Brass sound. Able to recreate all styles of music, BTB goes from Sinatra to Stevie Wonder to Bruno Mars, possibly, all in the same set! Black Tie Brass is also the Official Brass Section for Pop Music Artist Nick Tangorra. Neon Jazz is a radio program airing since 2011.
