Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, vocalist Aimée Allen's intimate connection with music began as a child. Her childhood was scored with classic jazz, because her mother kept selections from the tradition on the family turntable. Though singing was a part of her childhood, Aimée first began singing professionally with jazz a cappella groups in college. After graduation, Aimée moved to Paris where she performed regularly in jazz clubs and festivals. The deep relationship between the francophone audiences and Brazilian bossa nova, led Aimée to form Les Bossa Novices, a Paris-based group dedicated to bossa and jazz. NYC Jazz Saxophonist Matt La Von Plugs Neon Jazz
Matt La Von doesn’t come from a musical lineage and no one has ever labeled him as a musical prodigy. Born into a military family, his childhood was spent crisscrossing the mainland United States every 3 to 4 years and being pulled in and out of different schools. Despite this chaotic upbringing, music remained a constant in his life, and he went on to study at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia before making his permanent home in New York City. His journey in music, and in life, can best be summarized as a series of miscalculations, bone-headed decisions, and a few unavoidably unfortunate circumstances which threatened to derail any hopes of a career, throughout which he has stubbornly plowed forward, refusing to accept defeat. Italian Jazz Violinist Anais Drago Plugs Neon Jazz
People often ask me if I like playing, if the violin is a passion, a hobby, or a job. I really do not know. When I was three years old, I found that piece of wood in my hands and in these 20 years I never left it. I do not know if it was out of habit, inertia, sense of duty, passion, ambition or even fear, and even today I can not answer the question ... What I know is this: I am a brainy, calculating, planning, anxious and wild person , and all this often makes me live badly, but when I play I feel good, really.
