S02E02 - The Wheel of Time 1x05 "Blood Calls Blood"

from The Show Off · host Amanda & Kampy

For our first Show Off of season 2 we’re talking fantasy series, and Amanda couldn’t be more excited to bring The Wheel of Time to the pod.    We’re talking about what makes this the Best Fantasy Series on TV Right Now (in Amanda’s not-so-humble opinion) and what sets it apart from the rest (you know the usual suspects). In this episode, that includes bookended funerals, a lot of eye contact only conversation, the most cursed looking man you’ve ever seen, at least four “the wheel” shots, the saddest looking man you’ve ever seen, Women and Power: an Overarching Theme, Rosamund Pike giving a masterclass on microexpressions, differentiating the non-sexual/sexual scale and the platonic/romantic scale, a thesis statement on adaptations, and a whole essay on costume and color we don’t have time for.   Plus, who are Dark Kili, Target Legolas, Dollar Store Jeff Goldblum, and BiTcH? You’ll have to listen to find out. :)    Note: This episode was recorded just before The Wheel of Time season 3 finale, after which Prime Video unjustly cancelled the show. (Even with a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes!!) If you want to support the fan-led efforts to revive the show and finish the story, check out https://savewot.com!    Leave us a comment/review, and make sure to subscribe for many more Show Offs to come. :)   You can also follow us on Tumblr (yes, really, we needed somewhere to post gifs, cmon): @theshowoffpod   And finally, join the conversation and email us at [email protected]. With your permission, we just might read your email on a future episode of the pod!
