At Body Shop in the 1990s, he led the company's campaign for the release of Ken Saro-Wiwa and other Ogoni activists who were arrested (and subsequently executed) by the Nigerian Government. For more than two decades, Boele has advised companies dealing in natural resources, retail, and property on human rights and social impacts.
