That fracture sent us into exile with one suitcase and no English, and it taught me how hope can survive even when borders close and names draw suspicion. Today, that same hope sounds like music in the streets, carried by Iranians inside and across the world who refuse to be collapsed into a regime they never chose.At the heart of this moment are women. Their courage—sparked anew by Mahsa Amini and sustained by thousands who risked everything—reshaped the world’s understanding of Iran. We talk about why the dancing matters, why a parade can be more radical than a protest, and how celebration becomes a lesson in sovereignty. I also speak plainly about realpolitik and cost: oil, alliances, and uncertainty do not vanish because we prayed.
