After a weekend of Noruz, the Persian New Year, I’m sharing what renewal looks like in real life: family at the table, prayers spoken through tears, and the strange mix of joy and grief when you’re celebrating in the US while your loved ones in Iran face fear and uncertainty. This is spiritual growth that doesn’t float above the world, it stays present inside it. A baptism service becomes the spark. The pastor’s message is blunt and healing: God is love, and Christianity was never meant to be a hate-fueled defense of religion. That lands hard for me because I’ve watched the damage that “radical” certainty can cause. We talk about moving from preaching to embodiment, using discernment, and letting your relationship with God show up as patience, generosity, and mercy instead of pressure. From there we zoom into the practical side of renewal: cleaning the house, letting go of old furniture and old wounds, and choosing forgiveness even when your heart wants to stay wrathful.
