What up, Mom? Put down that coffee and grab a wine. Get ready for another episode of Nursing and Cursing, a parenting podcast that covers more shit than your baby's full diaper. I'm Kate. I'm a stay-at-home mom of three in Brooklyn, New York. I'm trying to figure out whether I should go back to work, have another baby, or spend the rest of my life waiting for my fresh direct order. Hey, I'm Christine, a video editor and a mom of two living in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Allie here, podcasting up in the mountains in South Kona, Hawaii. I work as a real estate agent and a mom of two boys. Hey, I'm Molly. I'm a teacher raising two kids in St. Augustine, Florida. And I'm Sarah, a new mom to one sweet babe living in Brooklyn, New York. Between five busy households, it's a miracle we make it on the mic at all.

But trust me, we need this as much as you do. What's up, girls? It's nursing and cursing. Hey, ladies. Hi. So here we are on the mic. It's Thanksgiving week. And we thought it would be an awesome time to just stop and talk. It's Thanksgiving day when this episode comes out, Maul. That's right. Happy Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving. Oh, my God, ladies. Happy Thanksgiving. Huge. So thankful you're listening right now. It makes me feel.

Yeah, I wonder if anybody's listening on actual TG. Guarantee, because some people are like popping the pies in the oven and they've got their head bumped on. Right, I'm thinking you've got your earbuds in and your elbow deep in a turkey's ass. You've got your earbuds in when you're in the kitchen with your family? Oh, yeah. Stop just icing them out. Happy Thanksgiving. This is the gratitude episode where the ladies of Nursing and Cursing take a minute and say something actually nice. Yay. This is going to be a quick episode.

I told my husband the topic and he was like, you could sit that one out, I guess, huh? Medium such a donor. As a collective group, there are too many things to be thankful for. We are so incredibly blessed. And I know it sounds to say it, but it's so true. You guys, we are so lucky. Just you girls alone. I'm so thankful for you. It's too bad the internet ruined the word blessed because it is so true. The internet just ruined that word, but it is really true. I'm really thankful that we...

do this once a week now even though it's really hard to do it I really look forward to it and I'm thankful that I have a place to go to just be with you guys Um, even though we're doing it in front of lots and lots of people, it's very fun to do this project. Um, I'm really thankful for nursing and cursing. Oh my God, me too. I get so bummed on the nights when I can't make it or somebody's not going to be here. Like missing Sarah so bad right now. Again, Sarah. But Molly and Critty are not missing Sarah because they're going to be having turkey with her just in just a little bit tonight. Yes. Thanks. So true. I'm so thankful we get to do that. How special is that all these years later? We're still doing Thanksgiving dinner together. I'm so thankful for Friendsgiving and that you and Sarah are flying to Florida to be with us. I'm psyched. We're going to miss you too.

okay can i just take it back to something really simple wait i'm sorry sorry don't even go there yet babe i'm sorry i'm gonna i'm gonna cut you off with the first sponsor break and then we're gonna get right back to whatever you're about to say okay hot You guys, I did something this year that I have not really ever done before. I prepared holiday cards. You guys are probably like, what? Lies, lies. I know, it doesn't sound like me. I did holiday cards with Minted. Have you guys ever got a holiday card in the mail and been like, fuck, I should have done that. I should have made that holiday card. This family looks so cute. Every year. Yes. So when we had the opportunity to do this sponsorship with Minted, I was like, okay, yes, this is it. I've always wanted to do a holiday card.

And they made it so, so, so easy. All I did was text a picture of us on the beach looking cute AF. And I texted it to Cards, which is 22737. And Minted texted me right back. They gave me a bunch of different options for what they could do with my picture. They asked me if I was boho chic, elegant, botanical, edgy, modern, traditional. Whoa. I honestly picked boho chic. Come on. You're boho chic and edgy. Am I? Oh, thanks, babe.

Anyway, I went with Boho Chic and they made me this, they sent me five different cards to look at. And I picked one that's called like Love and Peace Foil Press Holiday. But they took my card, they took my picture and made it look like art. It looks like a really, really pretty holiday card. And I did it on my phone at a basketball game. Like it literally takes five minutes.

They sent me five different styles. I love them all. I picked the one that I liked and all that, that whole process is totally free. The cards look amazing. And minted.com is the only place that you can get a really unique holiday card just by texting a picture. It's not something that anybody else is going to have. It's a totally unique card. All the designs are created by independent artists and voted on by thousands of tastemakers. So you can get the best in independent design.

I think everybody should try it. I cannot stress how fast it was. I just texted a photo to 22737. Right now, before November 30th, new customers will get 20% off through November 30th by texting a photo to 22737. Before November 30th, you'll get 20% off your free purchase. And you guys should start right now. It's just 22737 is the number. Text your photo and get blown away. Make holiday cards a little.

shock your mother-in-law with how amazing we are in less than five minutes wow so you know what so what do you have to what are you thankful for babe i'm sorry i will say though anytime i get a holiday card and i'm like why is this one so fucking cute every time i turn it over it says minted so it's the company i'm gonna do it i'm gonna do it okay oh so i said i was gonna go back to something really simple i just want to say that i'm so thankful for water you guys clean water and you know I have issues with water where I live because we catch the water. And I've been thankful recently for laundry, maybe in some of my nail fails. But clean drinking water, water all around me, water to wash our clothes and to wash our children. It's just one of those things in life that we take it for granted. We've really conserved water here. But now that we have a little bit more, I'm just every time I take a hot shower, I'm like, oh, my God.

Don't have it. Yeah. No, Ali, you're so right. It is one of those things that we should take, that we should stop and appreciate. I saw a viral video. Do you guys see it where somebody is like, they wake up on Christmas morning and they just, the joke is like, they already have everything they need. Like the light bulbs are wrapped or the light switch is wrapped. Their family is wrapped. Their house is wrapped. Like, obviously the point is like, the point is like you already got it all. That's cool. Small things I'm thankful for. I am so thankful for my husband and the fact that he makes the lunches like 50% of the time.

Huge. Huge. I'm also so thankful that my husband Tim is a vegan and my ice cream is never touched. When I go into the freezer to get some, it's the same way I left it. Molly, I like that because I'm just going to say it. You don't really hear many perks about being in a relationship with a vegan. Come on. Coffee lifestyle. But it's true, Molly, because I'll tell you what. If I put a Ben and Jerry's in the freezer and I go back for just one scoop at 730 in the morning for a little hit with my coffee. We are the only people who do that, I think. I don't know. Maybe. It's my favorite time to do it. But it's never there.

Because my husband also loves it. Me too. I couldn't keep up. I couldn't keep those pint slices in my fridge for more than 20 minutes on supervised. Jeremy would just come down and blaze through them after he thought I was asleep. What else? I'm thankful. I've got kind of a weird one. I'm obviously super thankful for my husband and my kids, but I'm specifically thankful this year that my kids are into Harry Potter, which is something that I was really into. Like in college, I was one of those like.

Nerds. Adult Harry Potter fans. Also known as a nerd, I guess. Thanks, Allie. And whatever. I loved it and enjoyed it. Read the books with some of my friends and was all about it. And I just, this week, I've been thinking, like, oh, my God. I'm so glad that my kids are not into, like, Star Wars. Because I would just be like, huh? Like, I wouldn't have a clue. It's so fun. Like, we are all about it as a family. And I'm just sweet.

Yeah, I'm just grateful for that, that they're not into shit that I can't understand. Wow, I wonder what my family's going to be into. I know. Pregnant at 16. Watch out, it could be Lord of the Rings. No, seriously. Pregnant at 16? I hope so, Molly. Then you guys would really be able to. 16 and pregnant. I'm referring to the MTV show. Best ever. Watch out. Molly, I know moms whose kids are into Lord of the Rings, and I'm just like, oh, I'm not into it. Man, I would never be able to relate to that, ever. No, or even for me, like a Star Wars fan. I've never even seen Star Wars. Yeah, exactly. Anyway, never seen it. Kate, I'm with you. I mean, Molly and Kitty, have you guys ever read Harry Potter? I'm going to guess no. Hell no.

No, and I never did either because it came out when we were in our 20s and we weren't the type that were into it, I guess. We weren't the reader type. We don't read. Kate is what it is. I read, but it is never that genre. Right. So I started reading it. I get to experience it for the first time through the eyes of my son, which is so fun because, wow, had I read it back then, I actually probably would have continued through the series because it's that good. It's so good. Yeah. Our fans tonight are like, what the fuck? Everybody's a jerk off. Okay.

What you got, Freddie? All right. Okay. Well, in that theme of what our kids are into, my son has been really into Legos lately. And it's kind of been a game changer. Like, he could go an hour without meeting my attention, which sounds terrible. But, like, it is a nice reprieve from the constant play with me, watch me, watch me blink, watch me breathe. You know what I mean? Like, it has just been nice. Some independence. Very thankful for that. Thankful my husband has a job. He was unemployed for a few months. And that was kind of brutal. That was rad. Thankful that I get to go to Florida tomorrow. So by the time this episode airs, I'll be there. Oh, I'm jealous.

I'm excited for you, though, babe. I'm happy for you, though. It's going to be so fun. Thank you, sister. Also say collectively, the health of our children. So thankful for that. Beyond anything. And, you know, it's a long stretch ahead of us and little things pop up. But so far, we could not be more lucky because not everybody has this existence. I'm almost so grateful for that, Molly, that I can't even talk about it. I'm so thankful for it that I can't discuss it. But, yes, you are so right. It's like when you're pregnant and you hold your breath the whole time and you don't talk about anything. I mean, that's kind of where. I know.

You can turn the episode down or just give us 20 minutes. No, I'm beyond thankful when I kiss my kids at night, every night. I'm so thankful for my kids. I look at, I mean, the things Avi says to me every day, I can't believe it. And I'm like thinking, oh my God, I have the secret. Nobody else understands. I got the best ones. I know we all think that. My little sweet Goldie and her little chubby fingers and her just little independence. I love my children. I'm so thankful for my kids. You know, I'm thankful that I'm not pregnant. And I'm really, this one is, don't mean to.

Let it out. Turn the knife out. I am really thankful I got a girl. On that note, I'm going to take a quick sponsor break. I think we all need one.

Sponsor break. We all need to sponsor break. I'm thankful for my niece. Gosh, are you kidding? But yes. Okay, so I'm going to take a quick sponsor break here and talk to you guys about Green Chef. Green Chef is a USDA-certified organic company providing a variety of organic ingredients that include everything you need to easily cook delicious meals that you can feel good about. I love that. My husband loves that. Recipes are quick and easy with step-by-step instructions, chef tips, and photos to guide you along. Green Chef sends a wide variety of organic ingredients and imaginative new recipes each week. It's great. I mean, everything's hand-picked and delivered right to your door. How convenient is that?

The cells come pre-measured, perfectly portioned, and they're mostly prepped, which I just love. So with Green Chef, it's easy to maintain a specialty diet. And who these days doesn't have a specialty diet? So you can enjoy exciting new options. And the meal plans include paleo, vegan, vegetarian, keto, gluten-free, omnivore, and carnivore. And I want to tell you real quick about my most recent lunch that I had through Green Chef. It was a vegetarian take on an American classic, which was...

Basically, take a chicken salad sandwich sans the meat. So we had mashed garbanzo beans, which are chickpeas, cranberries, celery, walnuts, feta cheese. I mean, it was so delicious. I know the sauce was a lemon aioli. It was bomb. And then it was all piled onto a toasted whole wheat pita bread. And then alongside were crisp charred leaves, which was just so fresh and so delicious. And it came with a side of roasted carrot fries seasoned with chives.

There you go. It was a healthier, wholesome, high-quality, and sustainably sourced meal that was fast. And that's what we need as moms. For $50 off your first box of Green Chef, go to greenchef.us slash nail. And again, that's $50 off your first box of Green Chef. Go to greenchef.us slash nail. Thanks, Allie. Thanks, Allie. Sure. I hear some birds in the background. It's like you're in a sanctuary. Oh, my gosh. Yeah. The birds come out. So, Molly, you got a girl. That's great. I'm happy for you, babe. I mean, I love my boy so much, but I'm thankful for that feeling of done.

every single day why i am so thankful that i'm still nursing marigold you know it's like basically against her will now it's pretty much against her will and it lasts about seven seconds You know, there's something that I'm thankful for that happens every single day and we all need it as a mom. And it's that time, not only when we're putting the kids to bed, because yes, we all need bedtime, but when you truly get to hit that reset button, like you could have just two minutes before been screaming at them to brush their teeth or that's enough, no more. And they crawl into bed and no matter what kind of day you had with them, they are looking at you like you're the best thing that ever hit the planet and telling you how much they love you. You guys experienced that too? And everything melts away.

Everything melts away. And for 15 seconds, it's just pure bliss. Awesome. I know. I love that feeling too. It is so special, Allie. Mavis just started to be able to write and she just started to do this thing where she puts notes on the door when I'm in the shower and stuff that are like just like best mom, everything spelled wrong, all the letters wrong. I mean, I told Jeremy like, oh my God, it has totally changed my perspective on her because I always feel like I'm failing her and I feel like she and I are always both frustrated. We come to so many situations where we're both feeling frustrated, but she's like turned a corner developmentally and maybe I've chilled the fuck out. Who knows? But we're in a good place right now and I'm just fucking so grateful.

That's so sweet. I am thankful for another weird thing that I was thinking about today that maybe you're thankful for too. All my kids can put their own seatbelts on. Yeah, yeah. That is awesome. It's huge. It's saving me 45 minutes a day. That's amazing. That is huge. Huge. And I have a minivan where I just click the button at the top so the door is opening. The whole thing is a game changer. I click the door open and the kids get in, put their seatbelts on, and then I just click the door closed. Can you guys understand? It's better than electricity. But there goes your cardio and your abs for the day, right? Oh, that's where I'm getting fast.

The lifting of the seatbelts, I promise. Like, that's where I've gotten so much of my workout. Oh, Allie. Wow, everything's extreme. That's all it takes. Okay, I'm thankful. Ever since I got home from my retreat in Colorado, every single day in the morning when Levi wakes up, he gives me a hug and whispers, you're the best mommy I've ever had. He's done it every single morning. It's so sweet. What a way to wake up, right? It is a special way to wake up, babe. He's such a lover. He's such a lover. It's the best. He really loves to put a smile on people's faces. Levi loves to make people smile. It's so sweet.

I am also thankful for my role model as a mom, my best friend since birth, my sister. Aw, baby. Love you, Molly. Love you, Molly. Happy Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving. I wish I was with you. Me too, so bad. I wish you were holding my daughter and my son. Me too. Okay, ladies. Oh, one more thing before I go to nail fail. I'm really, really so thankful that Wednesday is not my cat. Oh. Same. Yeah, that's mean.

Sarah, I'm just joking. I just had to like reference Sarah because I miss her so much tonight. But she has to deal with that cat on me. Okay, guys. No fails. No fails. I got a fail. I'm really racking them up lately. I cleaned out my girl's bedroom the other day. And I tidy it plenty of times, but I very rarely do a deep clean just because like the clutter is overwhelming.

and they have this, like, you know, I think you guys have seen it, and I probably posted it. My kids have this, like, fake piece of shit, this plastic turd poop that they leave around all the time. You guys, anyway. I know it well. We had one when we were teens. Yeah. Oh, my God. I carried it everywhere. Yeah, we did. Oh, my God. I just got such a flashback. That's weird. I forgot. Anyway, so the kids have one, and so I was deep cleaning the girl's bedroom, and I moved, like, their table and stuff, and sure enough, there was a fake turd, and I just picked it up with my bare hands, and I was, like, carrying it around for a second while I was lifting off the thing, and I go to throw it in the trash.

oh no the real cat shit no it's real it's disgusting oh my god guys a real poor pup a real cat shit that had just been I don't know what like behind the girl's radiator and when I was telling Jeremy about it freaking out he was like oh my god I locked her in there remember like three months ago and I felt so bad remember I locked her in there she must have taken a shit and I was like oh my god our kids have just been playing inches from cat shit for months and nobody Oh, my God. Don't be noticed. What's wrong with us? What is wrong with my family? It just reminds me of an episode of Intervention. No, not Intervention. That's what it reminded me of. That's what it reminded me of. I felt like, okay, all of us are sick. We all have a mental illness. All five of us need a specialist. This is very distracted. Very distracted. Okay, wow.

Okay. Kate, so you had a fail. Do you have a nail or no? Just going to keep it at the fail. Oh, no, babe. Yeah, I got to have a really quick one. I pulled off a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese and lived to tell the tale. And that's it. Oh, big time. That's huge. Patch yourself on the back. Way to go, sis. Kid Vegas. Okay, I have a nail and a fail. My nail is that, okay, so Matilda for months, as you guys know, has been living off of bagels, string cheese, and raisins, which just crushes my soul. Also, she just like won't sit at the table to eat a meal. It's just hell.

Um, so then I realized that if I just put a plate of food on the floor, like she's a dog, like I just put it down on the ground and walk away, she'll totally eat. She will not eat at the table. So like, I don't even like put her at the table. I'll just like sit the plate down on the ground and walk away. And so then I'm like, okay, I'm going to try to change it up from the regular contenders of cheese and raisins.

And so the other night I just put down like my spinach salad, like just spinach salad dressing and like a bunch of veggies on the ground like a dog. She ate the whole fucking plate. It's like the first grain she's eaten since she was like six months old with baby food. Wow. So that's my nail. She was picking up handfuls of raw spinach and shoveling it in her mouth. And nothing feels better, right? I was so fucking high because for six months I've been like, holy shit, she's in the first percentile because she has zero nutrients. She just has cheese and raisins and titty milk. So that was amazing. I feed my kids in front of the TV sometimes when I need them to really go to town on the veggies.

Yeah, that's smart. Just like distracted eating. Perfect. Yeah, I'm a big fan. Big fan. Okay, and then my fails quick. I got my hair colored the other day and the chick kind of messed it up and it was like kind of looked like NSYNC stripey. And I was, and I called the woman back and I'm like, hey, you know, it's kind of like NSYNC. Can I come back? Whatever. I got off the phone. And a couple minutes later, Levi goes, Molly, you're laughing because you're like, yeah, it did not look good. No, I'm laughing because you're calling it NSYNC. It was so NSYNC stripey. That's how mine are, Polish name. Gorgeous. So bad.

um a couple minutes later it's like i guess levi must have been listening because he goes hey mom and i'm like what's up buddy and he goes your hair looks really lame lately Oh, thanks, dude. That's my favorite. He called me on my instincts. But you sent us the picture of Asker. No, that was the instinct stripe. You just maybe couldn't see it so much, but I got it fixed. I got it fixed. I thought you looked really pretty. Oh, thanks. Thank you. I would have such a problem calling somebody back and being like, I don't like it. But it's so expensive, Molly. And I've been down that block so many times. And I'm like, I cannot have instinct stripes for three months. And I can't pay to get it redone right now. It was so expensive. No, I got the worst highlights ever the other day. And I just texted the guy a picture of a new cotton color I want. And I was like, we have to do it the whole thing over.

We got to do a redo. Redo's. I haven't done it yet, and I really want to. I want to go lighter, but I'm tired because everyone has a story. Well, once you start, it's very difficult to stop, so that's the only thing. It's also just, like, I just think it's so expensive that I never keep it up. Right. Yep. And it takes, like, hours. Hours, right, is the time. Hours and hours.

It's just, it sucks, but I'm in a different story. Okay, I've got to fail. I was washing dishes the other morning because sometimes I leave them now, but here's a good reason why not to. Dark, dark and cold. My kids are asleep and it must be like 6 a.m. and I'm washing dishes. And I'm like, what the heck is this? We had made popsicles, you know.

you know the mold for a popsicle stick right yep not a super skinny one and kind of the fat wide popsicles they're like what is in that and I'm kind of like what looking at it and then I put stick the sponge in there and then I realize it's a dead mouse nope nope goodbye wait Allie what yes and I couldn't I was like oh sick how did you realize it was a dead mouse like how did you realize wet fur fetal position Just sick. When I hear the word mouse in fetal position, like actually even saying those two words, I feel like I'm going to throw up. I mean, whatever. I let my kids play in catch it. So I should shut the fuck up. Right. That sucks. I was like screaming in the morning. Like, okay. And then my nail. No, it's not really a nail. So we'll just move on from that. Okay. I'll pick that up. My nail. My nail is, um, okay. I got a massage.

huge huge huge self-care but I realized once I got on the table and she started to touch me I was like oh I let this go way too long like I felt like I hadn't had self-care in years and it was like getting emotional I was I didn't cry but um I went, I got high, Allie. I walked out of there high. I'm doing it. I'm doing it. I'm doing it. I was so turned on from every part of my being. And I'm not talking sexually. I just mean like I was just turned on. You were alive. I was alive. And I was like, I will be seeing you every month, maybe every two weeks. You're so, so, so, so, so deserving, Molly. Like, so deserving. So I need to book another appointment. I need to just like book it and just figure it out. You're a teacher and a mother of small children. You need to do this. Yeah, you need a tender touch once a month from somebody that's not your husband, a.k.a. not going to hope it leads to sex. Exactly. Exactly.

Exactly. So, am I fail? Okay. I don't remember what this was. Oh, I don't know. Okay, yeah. Last night, guys, I was in the ER with Augie. Spoiler alert, virus. But it was just because his heart was racing so fast and he was speaking in tongues in a deep, deep fever. So scary. August, August, do you know where you are, baby? August, what is my name? Who am I, Augie? And he just like opened his eyes and his eyes were rolling back in his head and he just finally focused on my eyes and looked at me and he said,

Holy shit. I was like okay. Of course I went deep into the fact like oh that's a language from his past life and my husband's like you're a psycho. But I was sure because I saw it. I saw it and I heard it. It was not just slurring. I'm so mad at you right now. No you were there. You were there. I was there. I felt it through my entire body and Tim didn't see this part so. But anyway his heart was racing so quickly. Anyway that's like a thing I guess with a kid's fever. All good. I spent the night in the yard but um.

My fail, this is just a fail. I just am so burdened by guilt. He's still, you know, sick and whatever. Tomorrow I have my Thanksgiving feast in my classroom and it's very important to my students. And we also, you know, wrote a song together and we're performing and I play the guitar for them. It's like a big deal. So I'm saying, well, I have to be in the classroom. I cannot take the day off. And Tim also has similar things going on with his work where he feels he cannot.

um take a day so we have a babysitter coming for my sick sick child and like deep down you guys i just want to stop about i feel so bad and yet it's like a runaway train it's like just basically the crux of how i feel lately all the time no i mean make your decision and then whatever it is is the right decision everybody's gonna be fine well he's so so so loved and he was home today with tim and you're about to do thanksgiving which is like days and days and days together for you both to get your fill of each other it's He's going to watch cartoons all day with somebody who doesn't say no like you and Tim. Think of it like that. You're giving him such a gift. I hope so. Yeah. Okay. All right. Well. Let go of the guilt, girl. Let go of the guilt and tell the sitter just to say yes to whatever he wants and go do your thing and come home ready for a great break together. Yep. That's perfect. Love you. I'm so thankful for you.

Our listeners, you guys. We're thankful for our listeners. We're so thankful for you guys. You guys keep us going because you're our buds and our friends. And I'm really thankful that you don't complain about the ads that we do. There's a lot of changes that have happened and we're psyched about it and you seem psyched about it too. You guys are just awesome. What about when you say something on the podcast and you're like, oh my God, you go to bed. I know this happens to all of us when you're like, oh fuck, I sounded so stupid. That was so embarrassing. I'm such an idiot. I'm ruining the podcast. And then the comments are like,

Oh my God, I loved it when Allie said blah, blah, blah. And you're like, okay, I'm not alone. Like, I'm not alone. People, there are moms out there who get me. And that makes me feel so good. Yeah, same. That's awesome. Yeah, could not be more thankful. Had no idea that. So many fuck up moms are out there. If there's no new place to share it, I guess this is it. We'll deal with the questions later when our children are young adults listening back. Yep. All right, girls. So thankful for you. Plus Sarah. And we will. Love you guys. Happy Thanksgiving, everybody. Happy Thanksgiving to your children. Bye.

That's it for now. Check you guys next week for another nursing and cursing where we won't tell your husband that you accidentally let your kid eat a cat turd.
