I discovered Punk Rock back in the 1970s when I was a teenager. At that time it was very much an underground affair. It was the era of classic old-school Punk with bands such as The Ramones and Richard Hell and the Voidoids. Since then Punk has fragmented into a number of styles. Two subgenres, Pop Punk and Hardcore, have continued to thrive until today. There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of bands today that identify as Punk both musically and aesthetically.  This podcast examines the history of Punk through the lens of my experience as a Punk rocker. I then present a sample of some of the Punk bands I like today and their connections to old-school, Pop Punk, and Hardcore. Included is a 56 song playlist on Spotify that provides a buffet of Punk from the past through to the present. You can also find this podcast on Spotify.
