It was the only way I could work with an old friend of mine doing nurse life care planning and she would only hire me as a sub-contractor e.g. business owner. I never imagined myself as a business owner, but now that I am, I would never want to go back. I also provide mental health counseling to women, most of whom have a history of trauma. How did I get to this point? I returned to college and got my master's degree in rehabilitation and mental health counseling at the age of 50. Before I graduated I was offered a job as an assistant to a life care planner providing research. I didn't even know what a life care planner was.
