S3E2 - Max Payne

The sun was coming up with practiced bravado, and a new day of justice was dawning like the first morning after the apocalypse, when Josh and Ryan sat down to review a wildly mediocre, wannabe hard-boiled film noir film from 2008. This week on The CineMEH Podcast, we are reviewing Max Payne based on the 2001 video game of the same name that memorably combined elements of 1940s detective films, graphic novels, and action movies. ....except that this movie does almost none of those things well. Josh and Ryan are in for a lively debate over the merits of this Mark Wahlberg vehicle that feels only tangentially related to its source material. If you are looking for a discussion of Norse mythology, black and white movies starring Humphrey Bogart, bad New York thug accents, and whether or not Mila Kunis can pull off femme fatale- you've come to the right place. This one is a love letter to all the great cultural sins of early 2000s action movies and video games. Max Payne was released in 2008 and stars Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Ludacris, and Beau Bridges.
