We all know the phrase: “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” But is that actually true? Recent research in psychology has shown that words can cause a plethora of different harms. Should this make us re-think our approach to hate speech?In the US we’ve been hesitant to regulate hate speech, while other countries have been incredibly stringent. Which approach is right, and why?
