Trix reviews the information received from Ikar and decides to take a chance. They get the dagger out of hiding and try talking to it. Surprisingly, Rou and Trix find they can communicate just like they do with the Seven Swords. They try to work through Ikar’s riddle together, but it isn’t until Trix offers blood that they hear Ikar’s voice again. Offering up their own life force, Rou is extracted from the dagger just as Trix passes out. Rou wakes Trix with a splash of very cold water and then the pair take a moment to reunite. They share details of their experiences since Rou’s death, including Eight’s transition into Zero. The pair then begin to plan how to escape their current predicament and reunite with their automaton friend. Meanwhile, Zero confronts a pair of guards in the tunnel who are blocking the door ahead of them. They summon a giant chicken to plug the hallway, effectively keeping the guards at bay while they work to get the magical door open and escape. As they do so, one of the guards squeezes past the chicken and attempts to stop them.
