Dr. Millar is working to train other birth providers on how to offer trauma-informed care. Pap smears, pelvic exams, IUD insertions, surgeries, and childbirth are all complex and often deeply vulnerable moments for a patient. Step one is ensuring that the patient's background and trauma history are recognized, and then working to enhance the experience for all those who feel uncomfortable during these times should be essential.
