I want to dedicate my time and brainpower to begin the intervention against modern society's addiction to the forever expensive and toxic golden arrow of plastic production and the throwaway lifestyle which many people lead every day. The most severe environmental problems on Earth are taking place right now. I want to mitigate the pollution of our air, water, and soil because it makes it difficult for humans and animals to thrive. Overpopulation and natural resource depletion quickly occur and cause many people and creatures to starve and die off their cultures and knowledge. As a professional in the industry, the environment should be my focus. Science, however, is intersectional. Therefore, I have a personal commitment to social justice and activism. I am committed to social justice, including LGBTQIA+ rights and marriage equality, as I am a member of this diverse community as a pansexual and polyamorous non-binary female person. I will prepare for success by using the knowledge and tools I earn with higher education to assist the Earth and all its inhabitants, human and non-human, without taking away our luxurious way of life. The Earth still holds countless secrets for alternative energies that require forward-thinking pioneers to unlock them.
