The successful proponent for the Broome North childcare centre site is experienced developer and accredited child care centre operators TysonJoe Pty Ltd who also operate the Piney Lakes Childcare and Kennedy Kids Childcare in Perth. TysonJoe Pty Ltd are currently finalising negotiations for a joint venture partnership for the early learning centre with Nyamba Buru Yawuru (NBY) – the operational company of the Yawuru people, who are the traditional owners of the land and waters in and around Broome. The early learning centre is situated on a 2,256sqm site on the corner of Yako Mall and Shingoro Street adjacent to the Broome North Primary School. Initial plans submitted for the centre include offering 85 places for long day care for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years of age. Additional services under consideration include before and after school care, parent and child health and wellbeing, indigenous cultural and language education and facilities for parental educational courses. There are also plans for a school bus and driver to collect children from designated routes on a morning schedule. The new centre, which is expected to open its doors to families by mid-2025 is located next to the recent release of Stage 11 residential lots at Waranyjarri Estate. 2,253sqm corner site.
