Sandy Dann chats with the President of the NSW Young Lawyers Simon Bruck about the Uluru Statement from the Heart A little background about NSW Young Lawyers and the Law Society of NSW: NSW Young Lawyers represents lawyers in NSW who are aged 36 years and under, in their first five years of practice, or studying law. We are the largest body of early-career lawyers and law students in Australia. Our parent body, the law society of NSW represents the 36,000 practising solicitors in NSW (NSW has the largest number of solicitors in Australia – around 43%). Together, they developed a joint policy on the Uluru Statement from the Heart – which they launched this week as part of NAIDOC Week. NSW Young Lawyers and the Law Society of NSW were honoured to have Professor Megan Davis, Cobble Cobble woman, Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous and Professor of Law at UNSW, and one of the architects of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, at the launch of the policy document.
