Disease outbreaks continue to shape the outlook for South Africa’s pork industry while unaffected producers continue performing well. Dr Thandi Chiappero, SA Pork Producers’ Organisation consumer assurance head, said pork prices remain favourable despite recent challenges. “The guys who do not have disease are doing quite well at the moment. The pork price is quite decent… we’re sitting at about R41.”
