Sarah + Nathanial

from At a Total Loss · host Katherine Lazar

Sarah talks with me about her first born son, Nathaniel, who she and her wife Amy conceived through IVF.  His precious life ended traumatically with severe early-onset preeclampsia, placental abruption, emergency C-section, a brief NICU stay and death within his mothers’ arms. Sarah took to grieving while trying to find out what happened, and planning for future pregnancy like a full-time job. In the midst of the uncertainty, she found resources that helped answer critical questions. In honor of her son, she created whenmybabydied.com which aims to offer families a centralized resource hub of information and answers for the question no parent ever thought they’d have to find. Sarah and Amy, in the midst of their grief, have entered into pregnancy after loss, as Sarah is now due with Nathanials sibling.  This comes with many more challenges that we discuss as well. Here are some great resources that we discuss:ACOG research:·         5 attached articles·         Aspirin for Evidence-Based Preeclampsia Prevention trial: influence of compliance on beneficial effect of aspirin in prevention of preterm preeclampsia: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28888591/·         Prevention of preeclampsia with aspirin https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32835720/ Harvey Kliman: Reproductive and Placental Research Unit: https://medicine.yale.edu/obgyn/kliman/placenta/pregnancyloss/Measure the Placenta: https://www.measuretheplacenta.org/Preeclampsia Foundation – Aspirin: https://www.preeclampsia.org/aspirin Sarah is such a light to speak with and I think so much of what she says will help...To find Sarah on IG: @whenmybabydied *************************************NOTE: These are MY thoughts, experiences and opinions.  By no means am I telling anyone what to do, what's right or wrong, diagnosing anyone or determining how to handle grief or trauma.  This is my real life, and I'm putting it out there so you feel less alone. For more REAL TALK about baby loss and grief, hit subscribe to be notified when another video drops! Instagram https: @thekatherinelazarYoutube: @thekatherinelazarEmail: [email protected]: www.katherinelazar.com Some helpful resources:https://countthekicks.org/https://www.measuretheplacenta.org/https://www.pushpregnancy.org/https://www.tommys.org/ Ad: Scout & Cellar Clean Crafted Wine
